Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom’s birthday.  I swear she gets younger every year.  I’m praying that her aging genes passed to me.  Here are just a few of the things that I love about my mom, Linda “Nanny” Holbrook:

She puts her family’s needs first, before her own.

She believes in me, even when I don’t believe in myself.

She has always been the “other mom” to my friends.

She loves my wife.

She gave me life when she could have chosen otherwise.

She does not meet a stranger.

She’s a hugger and a kisser.

She picked a great husband to be my dad.

She works hard at making folks happy.

She loves Jesus.

She opens her house to those in need.

She loves and spoils my kids.

She can drink a WHOLE bottle of wine!   (inside family joke there)

Happy Birthday Mom.  I love you!

I will say that the few times I have met your mother, she has always talked and laughed with me as though she has know me forever. Your mom rocks. Not only are you lucky that God chose her to be your mom, God chose you to be her son. Ain’t God awesome.

Hey Wes – Happy Birthday my wonderful nephew. I haven’t checked your web page in a awhile and when I saw your #5 comment to your Mom for her birthday, I lost it. The only other thing I would like to add is that your Grandmother, Geneva, made damn sure you would make it into this world no matter who she had to stand up to.

I remember like it was yesterday… Middle of the night… patiently waiting at Doctor’s Hospital in Coral Gables for your arrival. The only thing I regret was because I was so young, they would not let me come up and see you firsthand in the Maternity Ward. I was as mad as an 11 year old can get because they didn’t tell me I couldn’t see you until the last minute. But, back in the day, children wern’t allowed in the Maternity Ward. I had to wait until they brought you home to meet you and the wait drove me absolutely crazy. But when I did finally meet you, I knew we would be bonded forever through love. I love you Wes and wish you a very special birthday today. Love always, Aunt Sandy
